Where is the Tauern section toll segment located?
The Tauern motorway A10 is an important north-south connection within Austria that runs from Salzburg to Villach and requires a vignette. There is a section toll segment between the Flachau junction and the Rennweg junction for travelers on the way to Carinthia (Kärnten) or Slovenia.
No vignette is required for above mentioned segment of the Tauern motorway. However, if you use the remaining part of the A10, you will need a vignette.

How does the digital section toll work on the Tauern motorway?
When ordering the Tauern section toll via the ADAC toll portal, the vehicle license plate is requested and saved.
When you drive through the St. Michael toll booth, the electronic license plate recognition takes effect and allows you to pass without stopping.
A green lane marked specifically for route tolls allows for quick, traffic-free passage.
Further motorway and expressway segments subject to section toll in Austria
All travelers who want to cross Austria the fastest way from north to south or vice versa pass through the Tauern motorway A10. The motorway leads from Salzburg to Villach. The route is used to travel to Slovenia by car, motorbike or motorhome or to go on holiday in Carinthia (Kärnten).
Yes, because vignettes are required on all Austrian motorways. So if you don't just use the A10 between the Flachau and Rennweg junctions, then a section toll ticket is not sufficient.

A vignette is compulsory for the use of Austrian motorways and speedways. The Austrian toll operator ASFINAG charges a section toll for particularly cost-intensive routes such as tunnels, bridges or mountain passes. This replaces the vignette requirement for certain segments of a motorway (see list below).
Note: However, depending on how you access these motorway sections subject to the route toll, a vignette may be required. For example, when entering the A13 Brenner motorway via the A12 Inntal motorway, you need a valid vignette for using the A12 motorway in addition to the section toll for the Brenner.
